Workshop: 9.00-12.30, One Whitehall Place, London

A unique and essential Workshop for Airport Operations Directors, Accessibility Managers and Passenger Service Management has been announced for the morning (9am-12.30pm) of the 25th April at One Whitehall Place, London, UK.

Taking Care of Passengers with Reduced Mobility - Assessing the Operational and Financial Impact of the PRM Legislation for Airports

On July 5th 2006, the European Parliament adopted the Regulation 1107/2006 and placing the responsibility of assisting PRM's (Passengers of Reduced Mobility) under the accountability of the Airport Operator. In the UK alone, it has been estimated that by 2008 we can expect the number of PRM's who request assistance at UK airports to rise to 1.6% (3.4 million passengers).

In order to meet with the legislation by 2008, it is essential that European Airports understand the operational considerations and the contractual and funding options.

Jean-Luc ProveniersThis interactive half-day workshop, led by Jean-Luc Proveniers (Passenger Service & Process Manager, Brussels International Airport), will examine how it is possible to adapt operations cost-effectively and smoothly to enable passengers with reduced mobility to receive the same level of customer service throughout the passenger journey.

Questions will be raised and discussed, such as: What is the philosophy behind their regulation? Which categories of PRM are entitled to receive the service? What are the staffing and training needs? What about quality requirements? What are the expected costs and nature of the service required? Do we provide the service ourselves or sub-contract?

Airports will be invited to provide a 5 minute presentation or comments on their understanding and actions to date. Attendees are also encouraged to raise the necessary questions to lead the sharing of success and thinking on this topic.
